Dr Jacqueline Tanti-Dougall, Partner at Advocates, Tanti-Dougall & Associates, has just returned from Dublin, Ireland, where she participated at the 25th World Conference organized by the International Forum for Travel & Tourism Advocates (IFTTA) held between the 8th and 11th October, 2014.
The successful IFTTA Conference in Dublin spearheaded by Mark Mc Donald, a long time IFTTA member under the patronage of the Dublin Institute of Technology, was well attended by 49 participants from various countries including from Austria, Spain, Canada, Belgium, USA, Hungary, Brazil, Mexico, Finland, France, Israel, Germany, Russian Federation, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Holland, Argentina, Japan, Malta as well as from UNWTO, who met to discuss many and varied issues pertaining to travel and tourism industry, inter alia, accessible tourism in Europe with particular reference to Germany, European Air Passengers Rights and other EU Passengers’ Rights Regulations, bankruptcy in the Dutch travel industry, airbnb market in both Israel and Japan, international fraud against the travel agent, the EU ADR Directive and its impact on travel law, lost baggage issues such as contributory negligence, airline bankruptcies, airline cancellations, risk assessment in tourism legislations, hotel liability, tourists’ rights, and affordable, fair dispute resolution system for the travel industry.
IFTTA has been set up some thirty-two years ago to bring together lawyers practicing in their respective countries as well as on the international scenario in the vast and complex travel and tourism fields, to discuss the most recent updates on legislative trends and or proposals on Travel & Tourism Law.
Dr Jacqueline Tanti-Dougall delivered a well received talk entitled “Addressing the compilation of risk assessment in tourism legislation“.
