TD&A NEWS: International Conference on Tourism Safety & Security in the Middle East and North Africa

 

Dr. Jacqueline Tanti-Dougall, Partner at Advocates Tanti-Dougall & Associates, has participated at the International Conference on Tourism Safety and Security in the Middle East and North Africa held in Cairo, Egypt, on the 14-15 September 2014. The International Conference was organized by the Ministry of Tourism of Egypt jointly with the World Tourism Organisation [UNWTO].

The event to tackle important current topics on tourism safety and security, was well attended by participants including from Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt, Italy, US, Qatar, the Leagues of Arab States, Tunisia, Kuwait, Dubai, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UK, Morocco and of course Malta, with the participation of tourism and or security related entities including the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, the United Nations for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol), the International Civil Organization (ICAO), the Epidemiological Surveillance and International Health Regulations – Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) of the World Health Organisation (WHO), the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the Public Security Department of Morocco, the Public Security Directorate of Jordan, Airports Council International (ACI), the Tourism Crisis Management Institute within the University of Florida (US), the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force(CTITF) of UN as well as the Arab Bureau for Crime Struggle within the Council of Arab Interior Ministers from the League of Arab States.

Dr. Jacqueline Tanti-Dougall was invited to participate at the International Conference by UNWTO and sat on a panel of international experts to discuss the opening theme of the international conference, it being: “Enhancing the sector`s resilience; preventing and reducing risks”.
