BUSINESS NEWS: Maltese Chinese Chamber of Commerce

Advocate Dr Michael Tanti-Dougall, Senior Partner of Tanti-Dougall & Associates, Advocates, has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Maltese Chinese Chamber of Commerce during its first Annual General Meeting held on May 5th, 2011.

Also sitting on the Executive Committee are leading Maltese businessmen and they include Chev. Maurice Mizzi, director of the Mizzi Organisation who is Chairman of the newly founded Chamber, while Mr Reno Calleja, founder of the Maltese Chinese Friendship Society some thirty seven years ago is its Secretary General, and Mr Anthony Valvo, a chartered accountant is its Treasurer.

The other Executive Committee members are Mr John Rusher, HSBC Malta’s Senior International Banking Manager; Mr Ian Mizzi, Executive Director, Mizzi Organisation; Mr Hugh Arrigo, Director, Attard & Co Industrial Ltd; Mr Stephen Sultana, Senior Manager, International Business Development, Simonds Farsons Cisk; Mr Jonathan Hams-worth, Operations Manager, Well Logistics as well as Mr Colin Tabone, who spent seven years running W. E. T. Automotive Systems, a German company operating in China.

The Chamber’s Annual General Meeting was also addressed by Mr Liu Meikun, Commercial Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Malta.
