Friday, 21 January 2011 10:16

Over recent years Malta has constantly sought to increase it tax treaty network by entering into agreements with its trading partners from around the world.  The number of treaties now stands at 58 with a number of treaties enacted in 2010 now coming into force.   Malta's extensive list of double taxation treaties now includes that with the United States of America, China, Isle of Man, Jersey, Jordon and San Marino.  Double taxation treaties are of paramount importance in international tax planning, especially for multinational organizations seeking to optimize their competitiveness.  The number of treaties in force in addition to access to the European Union provide companies with a tax efficient jurisdiction from which to operate.
