i-GAMING LAW NEWS : Malta’s First Award for Best Gaming Research Dissertation

On September 22nd, 2010, Mr. Michele Sammut was declared winner of the first organised 2010 Betsson ‘Malta Best Gaming Research Dissertation Award' with his dissertation entitled The Prevalence of Gambling Among University Students, presented in part fulfilment of the  B.Psych (Hons) degree course within the Faculty of Education, University of  Malta. The winner received a cash prize of € 1,500 from Mr. Magnus Silfverberg, Betsson’s CEO.


The idea behind this first organised event sponsored by Betsson, supported by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority, the University of Malta and The Malta University Student Council (KSU) is to encourage university students to pursue well researched dissertations on the gaming industry with particular emphasis on responsible gaming, innovative concepts and commercial models for gaming operators. Betsson which advocates in favour responsible gaming was awarded ‘The Social Responsible Operator’ for the Year 2009 in the prestigious EGR Awards held in London, UK.

The initiative taken by Betsson in the i-Gaming industry is original, encouraging and most welcoming!
