CITIZENSHIP LAW NEWS: Second Citizenship to be notified in Russian Federation

Sunday, 15 June 2014 21:43

On June 4, 2014, the Russian Federation has introduced certain specific amendments to its legislation on citizenship by means of which those Russian nationals who would conceal that they enjoy another country's citizenship, would be fined up to US$ 5,700.

Russian nationals are now obliged to notify in writing the authorities within sixty [60] from acquiring such citizenship with the only exception being for those Russian nationals having the right to live permanently abroad, hence outside the Russian Federation.
