Sunday, 02 February 2014 21:59

The 2013 airliner accident statistics released by the Aviation Safety Network on January 1, 2014 shows a record low total of two hundred and sixty five [265] airliner accident fatalities, out of which there were twenty nine [29] fatal airliner accidents.

Thus, 2013 was a by far a very safe year indeed for the commercial aviation industry, with the number of fatalities being significantly lower than the ten-year average of 720 fatalities.

Three [3] out of twenty nine [29] fatal accident airplanes (being approximately equivalent to 10%) were operated by airlines on the E.U. so called “black list” as opposed to three [3] out of twenty three [23] (being approximately equivalent to 13%) of the year before.
