Advocates, Tanti-Dougall & Associates, represented by Rebekah Tanti-Dougall LL.B., LL.M. (IMLI), participated at the Mediterranean Business Aviation 2013 Summit held on the 13th September, 2013 at The Palace Hotel, Sliema, in Malta.

Organised for the second time in Malta by AeroPodium, the summit proved to be an excellent platform for all those involved in the aviation business including owners, manufacturers, lessors, lessees, financiers, national airlines and aviation authorities as well as law firms providing the many and varied legal services associated with the industry in particular aircraft registrations, sale/purchase and or lease transactions, financing, asset management, security, health & safety, taxation and litigation issues.

The Mediterranean Business Aviation 2013 Summit which was well attended, attracted a good number local and foreign leading players in the market.

As from October 1st, 2010 Malta has introduced a new law on aircraft registration having acceded to the Cape Town Convention and the Aircraft Protocol following their adoption by the EU. The Aircraft Registration Act provides a comprehensive legal and fiscal framework for those owners and lessors who intend to register their commercial and private aircrafts, including a National Aircraft Register, allowing for certain initiatives like for example, the possibility to register an aircraft when still under construction. The new law caters for fractional ownership, aircraft leasing and aircraft finance with their respective legal complex considerations relative to mortgages and privileges. The relative legislation is expected to be revised during the last quarter of this year to incorporate simpler VAT applications to the industry, making it further attractive to those using Malta for their commercial aviation operations in particular for aircraft registration.

In the aviation sector, Tanti-Dougall & Associates, Advocates can provide services in connection with aircraft registration, dry and/or wet lease agreements, aircraft financing and advice on tax applicability, aviation cyber terrorism,  as well as on Health & Safety and aircraft security issues, including Airport Safety & Security and Airport Emergency Plan in line with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and relative European regulations.

Jacqueline Tanti-Dougall having graduated with Diploma in Aviation Law following a course at the IATA Aviation Training and Development Institute in Switzerland and Rebekah Tanti-Dougall, are mainly responsible for the practice area.
