TAX NEWS: Another Double Tax Treaty for Malta with the Kingdom of Bahrain

By means of Legal Notice 82 of 2012 published on February 28th, 2012, the Double Tax Treaty previously signed on the 12th April 2010 between Malta and the Kingdom of Bahrain, came into force.

The purpose of this Double Tax Treaty, like the other existing fifty nine (59) so enjoyed by Malta, is for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion between the two States. Its aim is to further facilitate trade exchanges and investment between the respective regions which over the past decade have increased considerably.

Malta enjoys sixty (60) Double Tax Treaties and several Tax Information Exchange Agreements (TIEA) which certainly facilitate whosoever would wish to carry on trade or to establish a company in Malta or through Malta with the best possible tax regime.
